Justification - Sample 5
sStandard 2: 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.5.1 and 2.6.1 The sequence of lessons described in the daybook extract draw on syllabus content from several Key Learning Areas and plans for the use of a range of literacy strategies (including comprehension activities, free writing and reciprocal reading) and numeracy strategies (including learning through games, creating arrays and using graphic tables). The use of ICT for learning, including iPads for research and literacy learning, is also planned in the sequence of learning.
Standard 3: 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1 and 3.6.1 The daybook was completed at the beginning of each week over the course of the EPT330 placement and adapted throughout the week based on students’ understanding of the concepts, results of formative assessment and self-evaluation of the teaching and learning process. For example, due to students not being comfortable with ascending and descending numbers, the content of the Mathematics lessons was rearranged to provide more targeted time on this concept. A range of teaching strategies were planned over the course of the week, including direct instruction, collaborative group work, joint and independent construction. A range of digital and concrete resources, including iPads, Art supplies, GoMaths worksheets and YouTube clips were also included in the planning of the learning sequence.
Standard 6: 6.3.1 The daybook demonstrates regular planned engagement with the supervising teacher (Kym) during release. This was a period for reviewing the teaching and learning that had occurred during the week, evaluating how feedback had been applied, and planning teaching and learning goals for the next week.
